Now in 2019, India will be celebrating the <strong>150th birth anniversary<\/strong> of Gandhi.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"638\" height=\"320\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/g1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-633\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/g1.jpg 638w, https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/g1-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 638px) 100vw, 638px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><p align=\"justify\">\nMohandas Karamchand Gandhi is\na political ethician who employed nonviolent resistance to lead the successful\ncampaign for India&#8217;s independence from British Rule was born on <strong>October 2, 1869<\/strong> in a Hindu family in\ncoastal Gujarat&#8217;s Porbandar, Gandhi&#8217;s (popularly known as Bapu) relentless work\nto ensure India&#8217;s Independence from British colonialism. Gandhi is fondly\nremembered as the <strong>Father of the Nation<\/strong>,\nhe is known to have inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the\nworld. Mahatma Gandhi&#8217;s birthday on 2 October, is not only commemorated in\nIndia as Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday, but is celebrated worldwide as the\nInternational Day of Nonviolence.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1020\" height=\"534\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/g0.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-634\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/g0.jpg 1020w, https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/g0-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/g0-768x402.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1020px) 100vw, 1020px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><p align=\"justify\">\nIn Indian\nPolitics, the period from 1920 to 1947 had been described as the <strong>Gandhian Era<\/strong>. During this period,\nGandhi&#8217;s final word on behalf of the chalking out a programme for the national\nmovement, and the Indian National Congress in negotiating with the British\nGovernment for constitutional reforms. <\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/g4-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-635\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/g4-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/g4-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/g4-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/g4.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><p align=\"justify\">\nMahatma\nGandhi led to the national freedom struggle against the British rule. The most\ncomical thing about this struggle was that it was completely nonviolent. Mohan\nDas Karamchand Gandhi was born on 2nd October, 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat.\nAfter finishing his education in India, he went to England in 1891 and\nqualified as Barrister. In 1894, Gandhi went to South Africa in connection with\na law suit. Gandhi started his the political career in South Africa where he\nlaunched a Civil Disobedience Movement against the maltreatment meted out to\nAsian settlers. He returned to India in 1916, and took up the leadership of\nNational Freedom Struggle.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"616\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/g2-1024x616.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-636\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/g2-1024x616.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/g2-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/g2-768x462.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/g2.jpg 1199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><p align=\"justify\">\nAfter the\ndeath of congress leader and freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak on August,\n1920, Gandhi became virtually the sole navigator of the ship of the congress.\nGandhi had whole heartedly supported the British during the <strong>1st World War <\/strong>(1914-1919). After the\nfinish of war, however, did not bring the promised freedom for India. So\nGandhiji started many movements to force the British to concede India its\nIndependence. The well known being: Non Co-operation Movement (1920), Civil\nDisobedience Movement (1930) and Quit India Movement (1942). The British passed\nthe <strong>Rowlett Act<\/strong> in 1919 to deal with\nthe revolutionaries. Gandhi made the Rowlett Act an issue and appealed to the\npeople to observe peaceful demonstration on April 6, 1919. Gandhi&#8217;s call for\npeaceful demonstration met with very great response. In Punjab and Delhi, it\nled to mass demonstrations. The <strong>Jallianwala\nMassacre<\/strong> (1919) was a sequel of this trouble. The Indian people were deeply\nshocked by this way the British conducted themselves. <\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/gd-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-637\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/gd-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/gd-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/gd-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/gd.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><p align=\"justify\">\nGandhi\nthem started a non-co-operation in 1920 against the British rule. Gandhi\nstarted his Civil Disobedience with his famous <strong>&#8216;Dandi March&#8217;<\/strong> in 12th March 1930 to break the salt laws. Many\nleaders and persons courted arrest. After that followed the Gandhi-Irwin Pact\nfor the participation of the congress in the <strong>Second Round Table Conference in 1931<\/strong>. Sir Stafford Cripps came to\nIndia in March 1942 with his proposals which were rejected by all political\nparties. The unsuccessful of the Cripps Mission led to unprecedented\ndisturbances. Disappointed and disillusioned, the congress passed at Bombay the\nQuit India Resolution (August 8, 1942). <\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"445\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/gsrt1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-641\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/gsrt1.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/gsrt1-300x167.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/gsrt1-768x427.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><p align=\"justify\">\nThe\nBritish were asked to leave India immediately. The moving spirit behind the\nresolution was Gandhi. The Leave India Movement was the greatest challenge to\nthe British Empire. Gandhi was a great leader, a great social reformer and a\nsaint. He was truthful, pious and religious. He believed in simple living and\nhigh thinking. Everybody who came in contact with him were so deeply attracted\nby his personality. Gandhi was a Champion of democracy and was deadly opposed\nto dictatorial rule. Gandhi showed the World and India the path of truth and\nnon-violence. He confidenced that it was truth alone that prevailed in the end.\nGandhi believed that real India lived in more than five lakhs villages raised.\nAccording to him India&#8217;s real liberation depended on Swadeshi i.e. use of khadi\nencouragement to village, boycott of foreign goods and cottage industries. <\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/gd1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-638\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/gd1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.ynorme.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/gd1-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><p align=\"justify\">\nGandhi\nbegan to work night and day for the freedom of his country. He and his brave\nsupporters went to jail again and again, and suffered terrible hardships.\nThousands of them were beaten, starved, and ill treated and killed, but they\nremained true to their master. At last his good efforts bore fruit and on\nAugust 15, 1947, India became free and independent. Gandhi conquered the mighty\nBritish Empire not with swords or guns, but by means of strange and utterly new\nweapons of truth and Ahinsa. He worked all through his life for Hindu-Muslim\nUnity and the eradication of <strong>untouchability.<\/strong>\nGandhi worked hard for the improvement of the Harijans, the name given by him\nto the untouchables. Gandhi declared untouchability a sin against Man and God.\nGandhi wrote his famous autobiography <strong>\u2018My\nExperiments with Truth&#8217;<\/strong>. Gandhi always stood for general harmony, but he\nhimself was shot dead by a religious fanatic Nathuram Godse on 30th January,\n1948. Gandhi&#8217;s ultimate search was for righteous conduct. The means are more vital than the end, he maintained; with the right means, desired ends will follow. In time, he was proven right- almost always. His actions and struggles were but external demonstrations of his struggle to evolve his own value system. So, The Mahatma Gandhi better known as <strong>the father of the Nation<\/strong> because it was he who got freedom for us.
